Our Services

Stepping into an unfamiliar industry can often feel overwhelming; but at Alchemy Cinema, we strive to make the filmmaking process as simple and painless as possible for our clients. We work to demystify the film production process while delivering quality films to you.

To begin with, here’s a basic list of the types of films that we can create for you!

How do films get made?

  • Pre-Production

The most important part of filmmaking and also the kickoff. Pre-Production is where scripts get written, crew gets hired, schedules get made, budgets get budgeted. You create the plan for the film that you're going to make and the better the plan, the more smoothly the rest of the process goes.

  • Production

This is the part of the process when cameras 'roll'. Actors are on set, the director yells "Action!". This part of filmmaking is usually the shortest of the whole process, but without it you don't have a movie.

  • Post-Production

A film actually gets made here. Usually the longest part of the filmmaking process, editors take all of the planning from pre-production and all of the footage gathered during production and create the film.

types of films

  • Documentary

Non-Fiction films that focus on capturing reality. They follow real people and events as they happen. Documentaries most often use interview footage to tell their story.

  • Narrative

Fictional Filmmaking. Uses a series of scripted events to tell a story with actors playing character. Can be based on true events, but those events will be altered to fit the constraints of the film.

What’s the difference between

‘Film’ and ‘Video’?

There really isn’t one. ‘Video’ seems more approachable to a client, while ‘Film’ feels high end. Throughout our website and our work we use both interchangeably. Almost every moving image that is captured these days is done so with a digital video camera and not a film camera.
